The first of a range of Alternative handsets compatible with Evolution Style controllers, the MULTITRAP SPORTING HANDSET is a lower cost handset offering full use of up to 8 connected traps in a Sporting scenario. The Multitrap Sporting Claymate Offers... Handset Full control of up to 8 traps. Simultaneous targets by simply pressing two (or more) buttons simultaneously. Solo Shooter delay offering singles, pairs or following pairs. Cancel launch (Solo shooter safety feature) A target audit with a capacity of one short of 10 million targets. Fully compatible and interchangeable with LCD equipped Evolutions Systems. Tough weather proof enclosures Controller (Basic Sporting model) Credit button, the value of 25 birds being fixed. The Release Controller. The Multitrap Sporting Claymate is supplied as two component parts. The HANDSET and the RELEASE CONTROLLER. The Release Controller houses the trap detection circuitry, the Clay Counter interface and the Release Electronics. There are 8 wires that should be connected, using suitable connectors, to your traps. You do not have to connect all 8 traps. The white power lead needs only a 12 volt source from either a battery or a mains adapter. Do not exceed 24 volts DC or 12 volts AC. The unit is polarity protected. The Orange cable is a 3 core Claymate standard type and connects to the Handset using the waterproof connectors supplied. The cable length has been tested to over 300 metres. The CREDIT button. The only user button on the Controller is the Credit Button. Pressing this button with a valid counter connected will add 25 targets to the counter and store 25 targets in the credit cache. The counter may be removed after this process, in which case, targets will cease to be launched once the credit cache is empty. The Credit Feature is not mandatory. If the user simply plugs in the counter and fires off one target, they can remove the counter with one target added to the counter. Unused credits will remain (in this software version) until they are used or the unit is reset or switched off. The Handset. The Handset houses all the user buttons and part of the processing brains of the System. The tough orange rubber boot is designed to protect the unit against accidental knocks and bumps. It is not recommended that you allow operation without the boot. It is also recommended that the handset is taken in at night to reduce the chances of internal condensation or the handset being stolen! The user is presented with 9 buttons. One button for each trap and a Solo Delay Button. Operation of the Handset Explained. Pressing the Solo Delay Button toggles the Solo Delay ON or OFF. The internal sounder will issue a long tone to indicate delay ON and a short beep to indicate delay OFF. With the Delay ON Pressing a single trap button will start the Solo Countdown and after 3 seconds, the selected target is launched. Pressing TWO (or more) buttons will start the Solo Countdown and after 3 seconds, the selected targets are launched. Pressing one, or more buttons will start the Solo Countdown BUT if additional buttons are pressed DURING the countdown the secondary buttons will be released as following targets. The first button(s) pressed will be regarded as the PULL targets. The LAST buttons pressed (during a countdown) will be regarded as the REPORT targets. REPORT targets can be changed as required using the same technique but the PULL targets will remain as the first targets selected. If the Solo Delay button is pressed DURING a countdown, the entire launch will be aborted. If the Solo Delay button is pressed AFTER the PULL targets are launched but BEFORE the REPORT targets are launched, the report targets will be cancelled. Cancelling a launch using the Solo Delay Button leaves the Delay ON. It can be seen therefore that this handset allows previously difficult target sequences in that a Solo Shooter can, if they have the right gun (!) send off a single followed by a Simultaneous pair, if they wish. With the Delay OFF Pressing any single button will send off that traps immediately. Pressing two or more buttons will send those traps off simultaneously. WARNING. Due to the fact that the keypad is a simple matrix, some combinations of three targets will be send off as four targets! A demonstration of such a feature is to call for traps 1,2 and 4 as a triple. The targets will be fired but with trap 5 as well, making 4 targets. Targets 1,2 & 3 will launch correctly. In fact any combination where THREE buttons form a square, 1,2 & 4 for instance square up with button 5 will hence send all 4 traps. It is unlikely that users will ever detect this anomaly, as sending Simultaneous pairs will be all that is usually ever required. If the feature ever begins to become a problem, a redesign of the handset matrix can resolve the issue. Please keep BLN informed of any features that you may wish changed. Operation with High Level Handsets & interchangeability. The Sporting Multitrap Handset is designed to operate with the Sporting Multitrap Controller. Operating the Sporting CONTROLLER with an EVOLUTION (LCD equipped) HANDSET will transform the System, partly, into an Evolution Multitrap Claymate, in that all the features and power of the Evolution Handset will work happily with the slightly lower specification Controller. Features that cannot be used with the above combination will be the Solo Delay feature, as the Sporting controller does not have a Solo Delay button (The Evolution Controller does). The Credit Tracking of the Evolution Controller is not present in the Sporting Controller. Certain Configuration adjustments are denied to the Evolution Handset by the Sporting controller, typically, the Terminal Option to adjust Bonus targets, Mode lock and Local sounder operation have NO MEANING to a Sporting controller. Locking an LCD equipped Evolution CONTROLLER into any function OTHER than Sporting will require the lock to be removed before fitting a Sporting (non LCD) handset as the lower specification handset has no buttons allocated to FIRE or No Bird. The Configuration Key as fitted to the Sporting Multitrap has NO FUNCTION other than to allow a reading of the Audit Value which is read by pressing the CREDIT button. The Key is also used for factory setting using an Evolution Handset to gain access to memory functions not directly supported with a Sporting Handset. A Sporting Handset will operate an Evolution Controller perfectly and is a recommended Hot Spare in the event that the high cost Evolution Handset fails at a critical time. Note the limitations however in that a Sporting Handset cannot take over an automated 5-Stand, for instance, other than to launch wild targets as required. The Philosophy behind a Claymate Trap Control System that embodies several Controllers (Two) and several Handsets (currently Two) is to allow the Ground to mix and match Controllers and Handsets to specific requirements where the versatility of an Evolution Handset, for instance, may not be desired or required. Interchangeability of Handsets and Controllers to achieve the highest level of compatibility is a design requirement set by BLN. GUARANTEE & POLICY STATEMENT Claymate Trap Control Systems is wholly owned and operated by BLN Technical Services. BLN Technical Services guarantees the Claymate product described to be free of manufacturing defects for the purpose of clay trap launcher control for a period of one year from date of purchase in the UK.
